Caps Beat Red Wings 1-0    By, Jason Landy

Coming off an impressive dominating performance of the Pittsburgh Penguins, the Washington Capitals faced off Friday night against the Detroit Red Wings. Scoreless after over 2 1/2 periods of hockey, forward Jay Beagle got onto the stat sheet as he collected a rebound in front of the Detroit net and fired home a rebound shot off of a Dmitry Orlov slapshot. Beagle would beat Detroit goaltender Jimmy Howard to give Washington a 1-0 lead. Later on in the period with one minute to go in the game Detroit right winger Gustav Nyquist would collect a rebound in front of the Washington net, but did not lift the puck high enough and Capitals goalie Braden Holtby would make  a nice sprawling save to preserve the Washington one goal lead. Holtby was definitely a huge factor all game long as he would stop 25 Detroit shots. With the win the Capitals now sit in fourth place in the Eastern Conference just four points behind conference leader-Montreal.

Maryland vs. Georgetown Preview  By, Jason Landy

Tuesday night's Maryland/Georgetown "Battle of the Beltway" should be a good one. Last year Maryland prevailed off of the strong guard play of Rasheed Sulaimon and Melo Trimble. Sulaimon has since graduated, but Trimble decided to stay in College Park for his junior season after testing the NBA Draft camps. The Hoyas have some players that could cause matchup problems for the Terrapins in center Jessie Govan, a rising sophomore post player from New York City and guard LJ Peak who is a great scorer and can fill up the stat sheet. It should be a great game from Verizon Center in downtown Washington, D.C.!

Tonight Harden was spectacular pouring in 32 points and dishing out 15 assists as the visiting Houston Rockets would use a 12-0 fourth quarter run to propel them to a 114-106 win tonight at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C.

Wizards point guard John Wall would have a superb night of his own scoring 21 points along with 8 assists. In the third quarter Wall would dish to a trailing Bradley Beal for a dunk. The assist would make Wall the Wizards all-time leader in assists breaking Hall of Famer Wes Unseld's franchise record.

Hot Shooting Grizzlies Defeat Wizards  by, Jason Landy

Before a raucous crowd at FedEx Forum, Memphis Grizzlies center Marc Gasol put on a shooting show scoring fourteen points. First, Gasol hit a pivotal three from the top of the key to force overtime with under twenty seconds to play. Later, Gasol would dominate the overtime scoring with two crucial free throws and two more long threes as the Grizzlies would roll 112-103. As a team the Grizzlies would make thirteen three pointers. Leading the Wizards tonight was point guard John Wall who finished up the night with twenty two points and thirteen assists and the Wizards would fall to 0-2 on the young season. Next game for the Wizards is their home opener on November 2nd against the Toronto Raptors.

Redskins Statement Win?

It would seem that the Redskins may have overcome a slow start to this NFL season and are proving themselves defending NFC East Champions afterall.  With a huge win over the rival Eagles, confidence is building and expectations are growing for the hometeam once again.  However, there's a lot of football yet to be played.  Even so, beating conference teams like the Eagles, Giants and Cowboys will go a long way in repeating as NFC East Champs.  As you look at the remaining schedule, where to you see the "Skins" finishing this year?  Are the playoffs a real possibility again this season?  Your comments are encouraged.

Northwest Ends Richard Montgomery's Streak by, Jason Landy

Behind the big playmaking abilities of juniors Alphonso Foray and Juwon Farri the Northwest High Jaguars defeated the Richard Montgomery Rockets 46-13, thus snapping the Rockets six game winning streak to start off the season.
Richard Montgomery would hang tough early on and score the first touchdown of the game on a Ty Hebron run. But, when the lights are on the brightest stars come out to play and Northwest's junior wideout Foray would burn the Richard Montgomery defense on a slant route and race fifty yards to the end zone to cut the deficit to one.
By halftime Northwest would be leading 18-7. As the third quarter rolled on Northwest junior running back Juwon Farri would break off a seventy seven yard run and the Jaguars would add on a two point conversion to make the score 26-13. The Jaguars would never look back as they would defeat the Rockets 46-13 on this beautiful fall evening.
